It has a queen-sized bed and features a luxurious bathroom with a deep slipper tub and separate shower. The rate is $175 per night. For guests desiring separate bedrooms or for two couples or a family traveling together, the Tower Room can be expanded into a two bedroom suite by opening up the Governor Burton Room, located on the opposite side of the bathroom, which is then shared by the occupants of the two rooms. The rate for this two bedroom suite is $275 per night. The Tower and Governor Burton Rooms are ideal for guests who like bright, sunny rooms with lots of window space. The bathroom has both a tub and a separate shower. Rates: $175 - $175 Type of bed: Queen The Garden Room is located on the second floor and overlooks the garden. It has a double bed, a large window seat and a sitting area with couch and armchair. The bathroom contains a deep vintage bathtub with shower attachments. While the bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and is private, it is accessed via the hall. The rate is $150 per night. This is the quietest guestroom as it is on the garden side of the house. Most on one wall is taken up with a triple window and window seat that faces north and provides an excellent view onto the garden. Over the bed hangs a painting on a large porcelain disk. It depicts the goddess Venus (or Aphrodite) and her son Cupid (or Eros). The goddess, who is jealous of the beauty of a mortal woman named Psyche, is sending her son off to use his golden arrows to cause Psyche to fall in love with the ugliest man on earth. (Cupid agreed--but then fell in love with Psyche after he accidentally pricked himself with his arrow!) Rates: $150 - $150 Type of bed: Queen The Bird's Nest Suite is located on the third floor. It is often used as our honeymoon suite. The Victorian double bed has a beautifully carved walnut head and footboard. There are two sitting areas, one with a faux fireplace. A modern bathroom (with shower) is located within the suite. The rate is $165 per night. Appropriate for a honeymoon suite, the Bird's Nest is decorated with prints of Raphael's puti (cherubs), a daguerreotype of a little girl, a 19th century painting of a mother sheltering her two infants and a fetching statue of a nude with parrots-sculpted by an Austrian and discovered by the Bonds in Cape Town, South Africa. Rates: $165 - $165 Type of bed: Queen The Rapunzel Suite is located on the third floor. It has a queen-sized bed with the headboard canopy created from a portion of window molding from a 18th century French mansion. The ceiling over the bed soars to over ten feet and is illuminated by a crystal chandelier. There are two sitting areas and a "lovers' alcove" lined with pillows. A short passageway leads onto a tiny porch in the tower. A modern bathroom with both shower and slipper tub is located within the suite. The rate is $175 per night. The suite's name comes from the 1812 Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Rapunzel". The well-know line from that tale--"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair"-is spoken by a Prince calling to a Maiden locked in a tower. He wants her to let down her long braids of hair so that he may climb up them to reach her. If Rapunzel stayed in this room she could do just that, because the tower porch is open to the outside and would allow her to gain access to her suitor-if her braids were very, very long. Rates: $175 - $175 Type of bed: Queen
