Description
Circa 1800. The two-acre grounds of this 250-year-old inn feature gardens complete with lawn swings. Wainscoting is dominant in the guest rooms, which feature Oriental rugs on top of pine-planked floors. Antiques and family heirlooms decorate the inn. Three rooms include working fireplaces. A full, gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room, which is also the inn's oldest room. Historic Interest
The original section was built in 1792 by George Copeland, Brewster Moderator and State Legislator. The 19th century author Horatio Alger lived here while a minister at nearby First Parish Church. House was later occupied by Capt. Frank Foster. The house has retained many original details and is located in the Historic District of the Old King's Highway.
