Description
Circa 1873. Built just after the Great Chicago Fire, this 19th-century brick row house is situated in the heart of the Gold Coast in one the city's most exclusive neighborhoods. The bed & breakfast is only one of three historic buildings still standing on Elm Street. Recently restored, the B&B is decorated in a combination of antiques and contemporary furnishings. Four tastefully appointed guest rooms offer private baths, TV, ceiling fans and air conditioning. One upstairs guest room features a bay window and the original brick fireplace. Fresh multi-grain bread, fruit, apple-cinnamon tea bread, English muffins and assorted cereals are served in the second-floor dining room. The B&B is a five-minute walk to the shops on the "Magnificent Mile" and to the lakeshore, public transportation, restaurants, museums and theaters.Publicity and Awards: Travel & Leisure, Midwest Living, Washington Post, Inns & Retreats, "Hus" of Sweden, Mexico City Times, Kansas City Magazine, Michigan Living, ABC's 190 North.Location: City/Urban.
