Circa 1903. An eclectic blend of Neoclassic, Georgian and Greek Revival styles, the mansion was designed as a wedding gift by world renown architect, Lucas Pfeiffenberger. Original woodwork, eleven and a half-foot ceilings, leaded-glass windows, pocket doors, crystal chandeliers and imported marble and bronze statuary reflect the era's opulence. Elegantly appointed guest bedrooms are unique in size and decor. Each includes a private bath with shower and clawfoot tub or whirlpool for two, imported marble floor and chandelier. Designed by world famous architect Lucas Pfeiffenberger, this grand mansion was commissioned by railroad baron and river boat magnate Z.B. Job as a wedding present for his son and his son's bride, Mary Drummond, heiress to the Drummond Tobacco fortune. Edmond Beall purchased the property from Mrs. Job on February 5, 1909. A self-made millionaire, Mr. Beall co-founded Beall Brothers Manufacturing, was President of the Home Building and Loan Association of Alton, Alderman, four time Mayor of Alton, Senator, and was offered a cabinet position in Theodore Roosevelt's administration.
