Description
Circa 1856. Antiques from nine different countries decorate the home. The guest rooms are romantic; the gourmet breakfast served on the finest china; and the lush, fragrant grounds are shaded by a 500-year-old oak tree. The innkeepers also have restored the historic home next door, which was used as an infirmary during the Civil War. Four of the guest rooms are housed here, complete with clawfoot or Jacuzzi tubs. Among the many influential guests of the past, the inn once hosted Jefferson Davis, and, ironically, the first owners used part of the home for the Underground Railroad.Publicity and Awards: Best 100 in the World Conde Naste Traveler 2004, Waters Edge 2004, Jacksonvillle Magazine 2004, Southern Lady 2004, Country Inns, Southern Living, Southern Accents, Victoria, Veranda, Palm Beach Life, Arrington's Journal, CNN International Travel, Inn Country USA.Location: Ocean Community and Historic District.
