Historic Interest
Built in 1883 by prominent citizens John and Lizzie McCall. John McCall was the founder of the Ashland Woolen Mill, Ashland Library and Bank of Ashland. McCall served as Mayor of Ashland and in the Oregon State Assembly. Lizzie McCall travelled to Oregon by Ox team and later in life became an outspoken suffragette, known throughout the state. The house itself is outstanding and one of the best-preserved examples of Italianate residential architectural style in Oregon. Historic Awards: National Register (Granted) and City Historical Site (Granted). Historic Memberships: State Historical Society and City Historical Society. Historic sites nearby: Many historic sites within walking distance throughout the town of Ashland. The town of Jacksonville (15 miles) was a former gold rush town and listed on the National Register.
