Historic Interest

It is the site of American most widely publicized murder of the Victorian age. On August 4, 1892 the bodies of Abby and Andrew Borden were found after having been whacked in the head with an axe. The trial of their daughter Lizzie Borden was surpassed in print only by Jack the Ripper. Although Lizzie was acquitted of the murders, the mystery remains unsolved.
