Two of the home's most prominent owners were the granddaughter of George C. Yount, one of Napa's earliest settlers, and William Watson, an important financier in both Napa and San Francisco. Subsequently, the descendents of one family owned the property for 93 years, including a midwife who delivered over 100 babies during her time in the house.
