Description

Circa 1760. Newport, during the 18th century, was one of the busiest harbors in the Colonies. A shipping merchant, Colonel Francis Malbone, built the historic portion of this home, which includes nine of the inn's 20 guest rooms. The newer addition was completed in 1996. Fine furnishings fill the rooms, most of which offer a fireplace. Twelve rooms include a Jacuzzi tub. The inn's location, on the harborfront, is another wonderful feature. The breakfasts, heralded by Bon Appetit, include entrees such as pecan waffles with maple whipped cream or eggs Benedict with a roasted red pepper hollandaise. Guests are sure to be busy exploring Newport with its abundance of historic sites and spectacular mansions.Publicity and Awards: Colonial Homes, Bon Appetit, Country Inns, Gourmet, In-Style, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic, HGTV.Location: Waterfront.
