Circa 1769. One way to enjoy the history of Philadelphia is to treat yourself to a stay at this Colonial-period, Georgian-style residence in Independence National Historical Park. White shutters and cornices accentuate the brick exterior, often draped in red, white and blue bunting. A finely executed interior renovation provides a handsome background for the inn's collection of Chippendale reproductions, four-poster beds and drop front desks. A 1769 Georgian brick home located in Independence National Historic Park and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Thomas Bond House was originally built for Dr. Thomas Bond, who co-founded Pennsylvania Hospital, the first public hospital in the US, with Benjamin Franklin. The National Park Service purchased and restored this building.
