DescriptionCirca 1929. More than 1,200 acres of lakes, woodland trails and rivers are part of the estate surrounding this Adirondack-style log lodge, which is situated on the banks of a musical trout stream. A soaring cathedral, many-paned windows and a massive two-story fireplace grace the spacious gathering room. Its appointments include a grand piano and soft inviting upholstered sofas and easy chairs. Families and friends who gather at the lodge often pay tribute to its wealthy founder, who purposed to provide a place of retreat and bonding for his three-generation family (they nicknamed him Bondieu). Rooms and deluxe private cabins are all beautifully decorated. A wide choice of activities are offered such as hiking, bicycling, canoeing, fishing and picnicking in areas shaded by black cherry, ash, beech, birch and maple trees. Play billiards in the evening or shoot skeet and trap, canoe, cycle or swim in the sunlight. In winter, cross-country ski, ice skate or borrow snowshoes for a winter-wonderland hike. All meals are provided.Publicity and Awards: Departures Magazine, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Travel and Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, Gourmet, Country Inns Magazine, Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report.Location: Mountains.
