Historic Interest
An historic landmark building on Main Street of East Hampton, the inn's foundation dated back to the late 1600s. The house was destroyed and rebuilt in the early 1800s in the Greek revival style popular at the time. The Osborne family used the building as a tannery as well as a home. In the late 1800s the Osbornes began taking in "paying guests". In the 1920s the property became a thriving summer "Bed & Breakfast" and was named "The Maidstone Arms". In 2009 Swedish hotelier Jenny Ljungberg bought the property and turned it in to a Scandinavian Lifestyle Hotel. Historic Awards: State Register (Granted), State Historical Site (Granted), National Register (Granted), National Historical Site (Granted), Local Register (Granted) and City Historical Site (Granted). Historic sites nearby: South End Cemetery, East Hampton Hook Mill, St. Luke's Church, Home Sweet Home, Thomas Moran House and Mulford Farm (all located in East Hampton village).
