Description

Circa 1840. Originally the summer home of John D. Rockefeller's secretary, this two-story Georgian-style inn offers gracious accommodations a short drive from Ithaca. The inn sports many interesting features, including an impressive stairway, marble fireplaces, parquet floors, pergola (arbor) and windowed porch with leaded glass. Guests may relax in front of the inn's fireplace, catch up with reading in its library or watch television in the sitting room. Historic Interest

Orig. built in 1840, later renovated from a Queen Anne style to a Georgian style in 1908 by Rosa Murphy Canfield and Dr.Amos Canfield directed by the Architect Brisee. Rosa was the exec. secretary to John Rockefeller. Her friends included FDR, John Hustons' father, Monets' grandson and the list goes on...all frequent visitors.
