Description
Circa 1860. Translated, the name of this historic inn located one-half block east of Taos Plaza, means The House of Good Life. The adobe architecture of the buildings includes high ceilings, vigas, cedar latillas, Mexican tiles, handmade wood-burning fireplaces, wrought iron chandeliers, flagstone and original oak floors. Relax by the fireplace in the formal lobby on hand-carved furniture with leather cushions. Indian artifacts, Kit Carson's piano and a collection of early Taos artists' paintings are displayed. Guest bedrooms feature upscale amenities, luxury linens, down comforters and Natural Beginnings personal products. Breakfast in the colorful dining room may include yogurt, fresh fruit, Barbara's homemade "drop dead" granola, baked goods, and an entrée such as eggs smothered in red chili with cheese, accompanied by tortillas, waffles, French toast or blueberry pancakes. Walk to nearby museums, galleries, and gift shops. Soak in one of the two outdoor hot tubs.Publicity and Awards: Spiegel Catalog, Sunset, Innsider.Location: City/Urban.
