Description
Circa 1884. Ivy covers the three-story high vigas (log-beamed ceilings) and stone walls of this old hotel, a remnant of the bustling days when silver was discovered nearby and the town mushroomed to 7,000 people. Now only a few dozen citizens populate the hamlet, tucked in a mountain valley of the Gila National Forest. Cavalry soldiers are said to have headquartered here while protecting miners from the Indians. Hosts Catherine and Mike pursue movie script writing careers. Furnishings from the '40s fill the guest rooms on the second floor. There is a room with pool table and free video games. Pets and children are welcome.Publicity and Awards: New Mexico Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, AAA Magazine, Albuquerque Journal, El Paso Times, Santa Fe Reporter, Las Cruces Sun-News, Albuquerque Tribune., The Travel Channel - Amazing Vacation Homes and New Mexico's Visitors (as in ghosts).Location: Mountains, Country and Near National Forest.
