Description
Circa 1876. This 70-room hotel was built by Civil War hero Colonel Henry Sawyer. The hotel features wraparound porches, simply appointed rooms with marble-topped dressers and other original antiques. The fare in the Magnolia Room is Southern-style with fresh fish daily and vegetarian options. Children of all ages are welcome, and there is a supervised children's dining room for guests aged six and under. Much of the hotel's restoration and preservation is accomplished by dedicated volunteers and architectural students who have adopted the hotel as their own.
