Description
Circa 1872. This was once the elegant and exclusive Jackson's Clubhouse popular with gamblers. Many of the guest rooms and the grand parlor look much as they did in the 1870s. Fourteen-foot-high ceilings, elaborate chandeliers, a sweeping veranda and a cupola add to the atmosphere. The Inn received the American Historic Inns award in 1988 for their preservation efforts, and have been making unforgettable memories for guests for decades. A writer for Conde Nast Traveler once wrote, "architecturally, no inn, anywhere, quite matches The Mainstay."Publicity and Awards: Washington Post, Good Housekeeping, New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Smithsonian, Americana, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic Traveler.Location: Ocean Community and Village.
