Circa 1885. Ancient oak trees surround this Victorian house set on a hill overlooking downtown Asheville. After spending the day exploring the nearby Biltmore Estate and Great Smoky Mountains, you'll welcome returning to your own comfortable home at Hill House. One of the rocking chairs on the veranda that wraps around the house makes a good place to relax and meet other guests. Many guest rooms offer whirlpool baths, fireplaces and views of the garden and mountains. Rooms are individually named and decorated. The Flat Iron Suite boasts a fireplace, clawfoot tub and a small kitchen with stove top, refrigerator and sink. A canopy bed hung with white gauzy drapes highlights the Jackson Room; for something completely different, there is the S & W Room, with a black lacquer bed, African animal prints, and an Oriental carpet atop a hardwood floor. S W Room
Influenced by Asheville’s Art Deco heritage, the ground floor S&W Room (named for The S&W Cafeteria Building, one of the most classic Art Deco buildings in downtown Asheville) at Hill House Bed & Breakfast is fresh and dramatic, with a beige grass-cloth wall covering. You’ll rest in a four-poster, black lacquer queen bed among wild animal prints and decor. The S&W Room has hardwood floors, dark, muted rugs, and a pair of comfortable reading chairs overlooking the peaceful Hill House gardens. The bathroom has dramatic black and white tiles playing against cappuccino-colored walls. Enjoy the Jacuzzi tub & shower. This ground-floor room is great for small dogs. Battery Park Room
A cozy interior sleeping room with an adjacent sun-filled sitting room—the Battery Park Room is named for the former hotel across from the Grove Arcade in nearby downtown Asheville. Originally a sleeping porch, this outer half of this room is surrounded by windows for wonderful light and air. The double-parlor-style, second-floor suite has hardwood floors, a queen bed, a bath with a slate tile and glass shower, a full-size twin daybed sofa, and huge club chair. Finished in cream colors with touches of black and lots of texture, it has Neo-Classic flair. Battery Park can accommodate a third person or two who don’t wish to share a bed. Jackson Room
The Jackson Room is decorated in warm beiges and accented with black in a seamless blend of Neoclassic and Asian influences. Hardwood floors, a canopy queen bed with sheer curtain, a romantic fireplace, a Jacuzzi jetted tub & shower, and a decorative vanity complement the Jackson’s eclectic and nocturnal surroundings. We named the ground-level room for the striking, 14-story Jackson Building, downtown Asheville’s first skyscraper. Small dogs accepted. Drhumor Room
You’ll love the striking décor of the stately second-floor Drhumor Room. Named for the oldest standing commercial building (which itself was named for a small Irish island) in downtown Asheville, it is both rich and cozy, with a majestic four-poster canopy queen bed and marble top dresser. Flat Iron Suite
The Flat Iron Suite, named for Asheville, NC’s own Flatiron Building, fills the entire upper west wing of the house. Our largest accommodation in the main inn is graced by traditional and country influences, with second-story views of the downtown Asheville skyline to the south and the Hill House Bed & Breakfast lawn and garden and Blue Ridge Mountains to the west. The living room is framed by two large club chairs with a shared ottoman, love seat, and romantic fireplace. Tucked away in the corner of the room is a twin-size day bed stuffed with big pillows and with trundle below, which can sleep either a third adult or two children, making it ideal for a small family or friends traveling together. The en-suite bathroom has a soothing air tub with heated backrest, rain shower, and tiled shower surround. The separate bedroom has a queen bed. Biltmore Suite
Airy and comfortable, the Biltmore Suite is decorated with reproductions and memorabilia of Asheville’s Biltmore House, located just a few miles away. Snuggle up on the sofa in front of the romantic fireplace. Take in the treetop views of downtown Asheville without leaving the comfort of the grand, mahogany canopy queen bed. The Biltmore’s bath is spacious and chic, with hardwood floors, a mirrored dresser, a double jacuzzi tub with a European-style, hand-held shower, crystal chandelier, and pedestal sink. The Hideaway
Located just steps behind the main inn, this romantic old-France treehouse is a 750 square-foot, second-floor suite The Hideaway offers private-entry accommodations in a contemporary building adorned with a blend of modern and antique furnishings. The room was refurbished in 2014, its walls decorated with French toile paper and faux paint finishes and its floors with lush burgundy carpet and warm, intricately designed tiles. The Hideaway has Hill House Bed & Breakfast’s only KING BED and recliner. It also offers a quite large, spa-style, walk-in shower, dual vanities, sitting area, breakfast nook, mini-fridge and coffeemaker. Treetops brush against the windows, as you find privacy and serenity, in the middle of Asheville, NC. Your Home Away From Home – Vacation Rental in Asheville, North Carolina The contemporary, pet friendly, Pisgah Apartment, on the ground level of a 2004 townhome is nestled in the trees at the rear of the Hill House property. The Apartment has a large living room with a gas fireplace, polished hardwood floors, seating for five, and custom lighting; a queen bed in a private bedroom; a bath with a Jacuzzi tub; and a wonderful chef’s kitchen. It’s a place to get away from it all and still have all the comforts of home and more. Kress Room
The Kress Room, named for the former five-and-dime chain store in downtown Asheville, NC, contributes some “Shabby Chic” to Hill House — all the casual elegance of traditional antiques and all the cozy comfort of modern decor. Shades of whites and blues with accents of silver create a fresh and light ambience. Located on a corner of the second floor, guests might enjoy afternoon tea and quiet seclusion in its winged-back Victorian chair. The queen bed mattress is the newest and comfiest on the property. The bathroom, with the purest shades of blues and whites, is charmed with a silver gilded claw-foot tub, pedestal sink, and chandelier. Land of Eternal Springtime The Arcade Room, named for downtown Asheville’s Grove Arcade, welcomes the morning with its sunny, design motif. The plushly carpeted room has walls of finely trimmed wainscoting in warm hues and a cozy window seat opposite the queen bed that’s just perfect for an afternoon read. A ground floor room, the Arcade fashions an airy ambience with its multi-windowed structure. The original claw-foot tub and shower with period tile flooring add to the Arcade Room’s charming appeal.
