Circa 1891. This Queen Anne mansion, on the National Register of Historic Places, is one of the largest and most opulent residences surviving Asheville's 1890s boom. A captain's walk, projecting turrets and expansive verandas welcome guests to lavish interior woodwork created by artisans employed by the Vanderbilts. All rooms are furnished in antiques with satin and lace trappings.
