Description
Circa 1773. Built in 1773 as a farm house, this family home opened as a full time inn around 1850. A treasured guest book still at the inn dates from 1875. Now a National Landmark, the inn has been renovated and offers modern amenities such as color television and air conditioning but still retains the colonial tone. Several rooms boast fireplaces, skylights or canopy beds, and there are two family suites. A wide wraparound porch is a favored lounging point, and there are three sitting rooms and a main dining room. Breakfast is served fireside with the signature morning dish, Eggs Benedict, prepared by the inn's chef. Across the street flows a babbling brook, and an old-fashioned swimming hole awaits nearby.Publicity and Awards: Standard-Times, Irregular, Fosters Business Review, Granite State News, Boston Globe, Yankee.Location: Mountains.
