Description
Circa 1845. This brick Federal home, built prior to the Civil War, was constructed by one of Weston's mayors. It derives its unusual name from its years serving as a boarding house. It seems that many young couples started their families in the house, and the townspeople began calling it the "hatchery," because of the hatching of babies. The inn is still family oriented, and there are antique dolls, toys and books for children to enjoy. Breakfasts include fanciful items such as homemade chocolate chip muffins baked in heart-shaped tins. Entrees include specialty items such as French toast almondine. Local wines are served in the early evenings. Weston offers a variety of antique shops, wineries, a brewery, and an orchard. Fort Leavenworth and the Snow Creek Ski Resort are other attractions. Kansas City is an easy drive to the south.Location: Rural.
