Description
Circa 1923. Trout fishing enthusiasts will relish the location of this National Register hotel, which is situated on a bluff overlooking the White River. The river is considered a prime location for trout and water sport, but the hotel was built not as a vacation spot, but to house workers on the White River Railway. The upstairs sunporch affords a view of the river and mountains. Innkeeper Sherry Sanford has filled the rooms with charming antiques, including some original pieces. Sherry serves up a deluxe, buffet-style breakfast with plenty of home-baked treats and special entrees. The hotel is just half a block from Calico Rock's historic downtown area.Publicity and Awards: Arkansas, Ozarks Regional, Memphis Flyer, Progress, White River Current, Oxford American.
