Description

Circa 1775. The inn at Richmond was built just a year prior to the Revolutionary War. The property was part of a land grant from King George. The inn has been restored impeccably, and each room has been decorated individually with Waverly and Schumacher fabrics and appointments. Furnishings include a mix of antiques and reproductions, and five of the accommodations include a fireplace. The suites are especially luxurious, and the Federal Suite includes a clawfoot tub. Three private, one-bedroom cottages are available; each is decorated with antiques, reproductions and family heirlooms. In addition to the beautiful surroundings, which include views of the rolling Berkshire Hills, guests are pampered with a gourmet breakfast. The menu changes daily, but always includes Berkshire granola, fruit yogurt, muffins or special pastries and a selection of fresh, seasonal fruits. Entrees range from lemon, poppyseed pancakes with fresh raspberries from the inn's garden to a savory spinach, tomato and Brie tart with a cracked black pepper crust. After this luscious meal, there's much for guests to do in the Richmond area. Skiing, the Appalachian Trail, Tanglewood, museums, auctions and Hancock Shaker Village are among the many attractions.Publicity and Awards: New York Magazine, The Discerning Traveler.Location: Country and Mountains.
