Description

Circa 1853. This Gothic Revival, painted in a cheerful shade of yellow, is still much the same as it was in the 1850s, when it served as the home on a prominent local farm. The rooms still feature the outstanding carved woodwork, crisscross window designs, winding staircases, decorative mantels and hardwood floors. Guest quarters are tastefully appointed with antiques, suitable for their 12-foot, nine-inch tall ceilings. Complimentary coffee and tea stations are provided in each room. There are several common areas in the Main House and Carriage House, and guests also take advantage of the inn's porches. Rose Cottage is octagon shaped and features a 25-foot vaulted ceiling, a king bed, fireplace, sitting area, double whirlpool, steam shower and wraparound porch. The National Register home is close to all of Louisville's attractions.Publicity and Awards: Courier Journal, New York Times, WAVE, WHAS.Location: City/Urban.

“We stayed here for an Anniversary get-away in July '09. We were very impressed with the Romantic atmosphere and the Innkeeper and staff had thought of everything to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. Some really nice touches: Soft music playing as we entered, the most luxurious pillows and sheets ever, milk bath that "took me away", delicious snacks, out of this world Caramel French Toast, more choices that you can imagine at breakfast, a great selection of movies, and spotless rooms with plenty of space and all the extras. We stayed in the Attic Suite which is the largest room and very private, and it spoiled us so much that we said when we stay there again, we will order breakfast to the room (it is an available option). It was so quiet and cozy. We are locals who just wanted to get away and truly enjoy a retreat, and we were not disappointed. Very grateful for the discount for local customers too. Thanks for a wonderful night Woodhaven! V.Y.”

“My husband and I live in Indianapolis, and we were looking for a weekend trip away that didn't require much driving. We found the perfect destination in Louisville, KY with our stay at 1853 Inn at Woodhaven! Marsha is a super duper hostess, and her breakfasts are over the top!!! She recommended a restaurant for our evening meal, which we would rank in the top 3 restaurants we have dined at in our 31 years of marriage!!! Fabulous!!! Plus, she let us know of things happening in the area, so we truly enjoyed the Art Festival! Unbelievable! The room we stayed in (The Cupola in the Carriage House) was very cozy, so clean, and Marsha makes you feel right at home in the Main house as well. We will definitely recommend it to others and look forward to staying there again!”

“This Inn was absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t think of one thing they left out to make our stay the best. The breakfast was top notch. The decorating, the welcoming atmosphere, the special soaps – everything was just so homey but classy and elegant too. I will definitely recommend this Inn to friends visiting the area. I am from Champaign, Illinois.”
