“Wow! A glass of wine on the porch, in fromt of the fire,
with the waterfall just outside, at sunset. What could be
better? Well, there was the waterfall just outside our
window all night, the gourmet breakfast, the crisp mountian
air and very accomodating inkeepers. Don't miss this one.”
— Sharon Stephenson
“Our stay was completely peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed watching and listening to the waterfall during breakfast and from our room. The innkeepers were very hospitable. We would definitely recommend this inn!!”

“My wife and I had the best time at Sylvan Falls. It's certainly a unique place with everything you want in a bed and breakfast, beautiful country setting with an amazing landscape, private, spacious rooms and amazing food (really, really amazing food).”
— John Harrington
“Sylvan Falls Mill - Mitch R. I almost want to keep this place a secret for myself and close friends, but that would be a disservice to the wonderful couple who own and host you , Mike and Linda. The location is so picturesque it makes you wonder if you could ever find such a place of peace and beauty. The waterfall off the porch goes cascading by as you enjoy a superb breakfast made from local ingredients as much as possible. On the chilly fall morning we sat for breakfast next to a fire urn to keep us warm. The view is wonderful, the sound of the water is peaceful and the smell of the crisp mountain air refreshing. It all serves to make the doldrums of the everyday world seem a distant dream. In this little hide away corner of the world you can slow down, draw a breath and remember that peace is found when the noise of the outside world fades into the constant whisper of the trees, or the cool rush of water past rock. I will return here whenever I need reminding that life need not be as complicated as we make it.
Thank you Mike and Linda for a wonderful weekend”

“Sylvan Falls Mill is a unique place to stay. The mountain area with the waterfalls is gorgeous and peaceful. Linda and Mike are wonderfully gracious and serve up such a unique breakfast -- delicious! Highly recommend! Vern and I have stayed here three times now and each time we've been delighted!”
— Kim Adams
“It is a very interesting inn. It is a working grist mill that was built in 1845 and situated next to a sizable water fall. Of the four rooms, our room was the one closest to the falls and we actually had a nice view of the water as it tumbled over the rocks. We stay at bed and breakfast quite frequently and have met all types of innkeepers. Mike and Linda Johnson are cut out for the job. They have the ability to sense what their guests need and act accordingly. Their gourmet breakfasts are quite creative and tasty. Just wanted to let you know that I would recommend this inn to all of my friends and anyone I might encounter in my travels. Lorane Brown Mableton, GA”

“My husband and I try to make it to Sylvan Falls Mill B&B at least two to three times a year for much needed peace, quiet and relaxation. Mike and Linda have created a welcoming retreat where you can truly rest and recharge, whether in the dead of winter or the dog days of summer. A picturesque drive through the valley, a turn down a winding lane...all of a sudden time slows down, the sounds of cars and people fade away and the beautiful music of the waterfall and nature take over. The rooms are always tidy and clean, the beds are plush and welcoming, and the breakfasts are amazing-delicious and creative. It is a perfect mountain hideaway for a relaxing and romantic time with your significant other.”
— Susan M
“Best breakfast ever! Made from flour actually ground in the working mill.”
— Jene Davis
“I have taken various members of my family to this wonderful place over the last 4 years. Great setting, stimulating conversation with the hosts, great food.”

“We are looking forward to spending our third Thanksgiving with Linda and Mike. Both previous stays were wonderful, romantic and relaxing. This time we are bringing our best friends with us. They said we had told them so many good things that they wanted to see for themselves.”
— Janice Miller
“If you are looking for a place to relax that is peaceful and beautiful, then look no further. Linda is a perfect host - very kind and attentive to anything you may need. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Sometimes life gets so busy and hectic that we need to slow down and "smell the roses". Sylvan Falls Mill will leave you with many wonderful memories. Don't miss it!”

“My wife, my Corgi, and I were looking for a new place to stay in the North Georgia Mountains. After some internet searches for dog friendly I call Linda who said that there one dog friendly room was available (They only have 4 rooms for guests). The drive from Atlanta to Raburn Gap was easy and progressively scenic. On the way we stopped at Tallulah Gorge where the Great Wallinda made his famous tight rope walk. On arriving we met Linda who showed us the rooms and the wonderful garden. The Inn is also a working mill situated by a waterfall that provides the power to turn its very large iron water wheel. We settled in and found that although it was July we could manage without air conditioning. Sleeping with the windows open and only a fan on is something you do not get to do very much in Atlanta. Fresh air and quiet nights, what a luxury. The breakfast part of the B and B is on a screened in porch overlooking the waterfall and the garden. The breakfast was preceded by coffee delivered to our door. After a very good breakfast my wife, the Corgi, and I roamed the small garden admiring the plethora of Hostas, Hydrangeas, roses, ferns, and raspberries. The Inn was well suited for our daily excursions. It is located almost adjacent to Black Mountain State park and near the Foxfire Museum. We are suckers for walking so we visited several of the many nearby waterfalls which were framed with blooming mountain rhododendrons. Mike and Linda, the Inn keepers learned their trade in the B&Bs of Key West and have owned and operated the Inn for about 10 years. The second morning after a wonderful breakfast of waffles, fresh raspberries, bacon, juice and coffee, Mike gave me a tour of the Mill.
The rooms all have a window air conditioner, ceiling fans, and a small fridge. Ours had a shower; there is one with a tub, and also one that has a changing table for those of you with little ones. The common room was comfortable and interesting. I enjoyed sitting on the porch in an Adirondack chair drinking my coffee. If you are lucky you can buy fresh ground corn meal, polenta, of flour. Don’t forget to get some postcards. I can’t wait to go back.”
— Mac Sudduth
“I first stayed here some 10 years ago. Since then I have returned 3 times and I won't miss another an opportunity to stay anytime I am anywhere near the place.
A stay here is truly a unique and relaxing experience. Tucked away and adjacent to a waterfall, the site is magical. The hospitality and homemade cooking on the porch while listening to the rushing water is beyond description.
Don't miss this totally awesome place and extraordinary hosts!”

“My wife and I first visited in June 2005 and had an excellent stay. We went back Sept 2012 and had "an all over again" experience. It was just right!!!
The food is excellent, the rooms are perfect and the location is awesome. Imagine eating breakfast 15 feet from a beautiful water fall. Thanks Linda and Mike. You did it again.

“Stayed two nights and it was wonderful. Rooms were clean and simple. The innkeepers were very friendly. The breakfast on both mornings was excellent. Sitting on the front porch was very relaxing. Could use a more comfortable chair in the room. The great room and games were a wonderful way to spend the evening just relaxing by the fire.”
— Mike Mengak
“We stayed here for an anniversary weekend in November 2012. We had the Waterfall room, which was very charming and private. We enjoyed the area during the day and in the evenings when we got back there was an excellent selection of games which we played by the fire in the breakfast room. My husband particularly enjoyed the book selection as well. The breakfasts served were excellent, and both Linda and Mike were wonderful company, willing to be around as much or as little as you wanted them. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable weekend.”
— Angelina Moran
“This is an historic property with a working mill. The breakfast is to die for and prepared with fresh natural ingredients. Been there one time in the summer and everything was very nice.”

“My husband and I stayed at this wonderful B&B as our first getaway sense having our son, it was a wonderful choice. Linda and Mike went over and beyond to make our stay a great one. The falls off the breakfast room made for a great place for dinner as well. Breakfast was amazing, we can't wait to go back!”
— Nicole Griffin
“Went for a weekend and it rained and it didn't matter. Mike and Linda were such great hosts, we stayed right there a lot of the time and just relaxed. The food is incredible, and there is no more gracious hostess than Linda. As a Mom and a Nana who takes care of everybody else, I felt so pampered and cared for. Ready to go back already!”
— Kathy Meyer
“Sylvan Falls Mill B&B is not your ordinary Bed and Breakfast. It is one of a kind and is one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever been. My wife and I spent hours just sitting and talking in the garden at the base of the cascading water fall. Our hosts Mike and Linda joined us from time to time and entertained us with stories of the mill and how they became involved with it. You will never meet two nicer, friendlier people. I felt as if I’ve known them for years.
We told Linda we were disappointed that a famous BBQ joint down the road wouldn’t be opening for a few more weeks when the travel season really gets underway. She called the guy and he said he had some meat prepared and frozen ready for a catering job and that we could have some of it. She jumped on her Italian motorcycle and roared over there just to get it for us.
There are several cats that live at the mill. Being ‘cat people’ we took to them right away. One of them, Lou, found his way into our room and jumped into bed with my wife. He snuggled in and didn’t want to leave when it was time, but he finally did.
Of course, one of the highlights of staying at a B&B is the second B – Breakfast, and what feasts we were served. Everything here is organic and fresh. The flour was ground right at the mill the way it has been done for centuries – by water power using the actual water wheel at the mill. Linda told us that some of the corn husks that are by-products of the grinding process are used by a local farmer for pig feed and she trades it for bacon. These pigs are raised organically and Linda told us the farmer takes good care of them and that they are ‘happy pigs’ right up to the end. They must be because it was the best bacon I ever had.
I could go on for pages, but the truth is you’ve got to go and experience this place and its hosts for yourselves. You will be very pleased if you do. Maybe we’ll see you there on our next visit.”
— Howard Glassman
“Spent the weekend here recently with my husband and a couple of friends and I couldn't have asked for anything more. Linda and Mike were wonderful and gracious hosts. Their cooking is outstanding featuring local ingredients and their own amazing talents. The rooms were very clean and inviting and the screened in porch provided hours of entertainment with the background view and sounds of the waterfall. Will definitely be back soon!”
— Jana Pach
“perfect for that relaxing getaway. Quiet and comfortable next to a waterfall. Breakfast was amazing.”
— Richard Fletcher
“We only had one night that we could get away. Our stay at Sylvan Falls Mill was so quiet, restfull and comfortable that we agreed we felt we'd been away for days.
And Linda's cooking is incredible!
We can't wait to go again.”
— Jennifer Jenkins
“We stayed just one night. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a wonderful setting. Our room overlooked the falls of a lovely mountain stream, and we slept by the sound of it's waters. Breakfast was great-- everything was well prepared and delicious. The apple turnovers they put in front of me looked great, and tasted better. The hosts were cheerful and helpful. We'll go back.”
— R Young
“This gem is located within relatively short distances of several nearby towns and mountain parks, so there is a lot to do and see. This stay was at the end of the summer season. The waterfall sounds and bird songs were soothing and the plants thrived very well in this charming site. The hosts were friendly, courteous and accommodating. They try hard to please the guests and will let you know about the events and activities around the area. The site has a charging station for electric vehicles. We stayed three nights, and each morning the breakfasts were different and very tasty, prepared and served with great care and quality from local sources. The valley view room offered ample space to stretch and the queen beds were comfortable. We slept soundly each night. It was great to explore around the towns all day and return to base (i.e. "go home") each evening. Very pleased to have found this inn to relax and forget about work for a few days!”

“My sister and I chose this B&B to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday. We could not have been more pleased! What a "memory maker" for all of us. Highlights include Linda's fantastic breakfasts served on the porch overlooking the working water wheel (which is actually functional and used regularly!), a special home cooked gourmet birthday dinner cooked by Linda, strolling through the area and appreciating the beautiful, peaceful surroundings, help arranging an awesome massage, beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers to greet mom on her arrival in the room, spacious room with country "fresh breezes" gently blowing through the open windows, attention to all details- even homemade chemical-free soap in the bath room! I could go on and on. All the food is fresh, healthy, locally sourced, seasonal, and delicious! All I can say is Linda- how do you do it?? We will definitely return, planning to meet here at least once per year as a "family tradition".”
— Teresa Allen
“Sylvan Falls Mill B&B is the most wonderful place to stay. You get enjoy the rustic countryside and the history of this lovely mill. Linda and Mike have such warm personalities that you will feel like family. A magical place to stay with this waterfall running right next to you as you eat the best breakfast to ever hit your tastebuds and you will just relax and feel so carefree. Staying here is such a treat to all your senses. Over the years Vern and I have stayed several times and each time, we leave feeling so content and relaxed and looking forward to our next visit! Kim”
— Kim Adams
“You could not ask for a more relaxing environment, in a more rustic setting, that is so easily accessible. At the same time that Mike and Linda are very attentive, they also provide fully for your privacy. Breakfast is not a meal - it's a culinary experience enjoyed on the porch overlooking the waterfall and waterwheel. There is plenty to do in the area if you choose, and we have, but this is also the best place do absolutely nothing - and we have.”
— Phil Wicks
“Just returned back to tampa bay from Sylvan Falls and it was an amazing experience. So relaxing and peaceful. I can not wait to go back .”

“Linda and Mike were such great hosts. From a delicious homemade breakfast every morning to a glass of wine in the afternoon. They are so warm and friendly and our room was great. We slept wonderfully with the windows open and the breeze was perfect. Their working grist mill and waterfall on property really make you feel like you have stepped out of the day to day rat race and are in a peaceful paradise. The fall leaves and surrounding area were beautiful. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!”
