“Took my wife to St. Augustine for her Birthday. We had a great time touring and Bruce got us on our way with a great breakfast each morning. He told us some history and helped us make some choices on what to see. The house itself has history and that made it even better. We will surely stay there again!”
— Thomas Maragos
“We enjoyed the enchanted Stable and gardens for our first time on our honeymoon. What a fantastic place and so close to all the attractions of St augustine. We recomend the Inn the breakfast was great, we especially enjoyed the spa tub.”
— pamela kurtz
“What a comforting experience! I felt immediately at home...as if I was visiting my Great Aunt who always had my special room available in her home. I was very comfortable and at ease; could have simply hung around the Inn the entire stay. Will definatey return. Much appreciation to Bruce and Brian.

“This is the first time my husband and I have stayed at a B&B. We were very pleased and we are looking forward to a return trip. The location was perfect. It was a short walk to the historic area, but we enjoyed the quiet street.”
— Tori Galloway
“Bruce was amazing and so informative about places to see while we visited in St. Augustine. Our huge bathtub was out of this world and we loved the jets. The room was very comfy and vintage, which is what a B&B should be like. Our breakfast was really good and so was our wonderful talk with guest and Bruce. I would recommend Castle Garden to anyone I know and I know I will be back again. The location was pefect as well.”
— K L
“Found the location to be well within walking distance to all sites. Our room was quiet and comfortable, although our bathroom was outside our room which was ok but the shower was so dated in time period that it was meant for someone that is 4 ft tall! lol... We enjoyed the comradery around the breakfast table with other guests. Food was good... just don't be late... Bruce doesn't like that! Overall it was a great time and sorry to leave St. Augustine so soon.”
— Jason S
“Very Nice stay. Great Location to see historical district!”
— Norma Hartman
“Our Host Bruce was an excellent source of information for our stay, and prepped an excellent breakfast the morning after. The room was cozy and the location is excellent; near everything, yet tranquil and easygoing. The historic property is definitely recommended!”
— Alan Gallant
“We wanted to visit St Augustine for the purpose of turning the dining room at the Flagler with the unparalled stained glass windows. Upon speaking with Bruce for reservations, he informed that commencements are quarterly. Thus he advised to come in April. The facility is excellent, clean quiet, centrally located with bus and trolley lines less that a block away. We walked to almost everything. Breakfast was made to order, quiet, quaint and pleasant. It was a delightful experience!!!! I would not hesitate to visit there again, or recommend to my friends”
— Norma Anderson
“We liked everything about Castle Garden. It's full of character, antiques and charm. It's located on a quiet side street close enough to walk to the Fort and the downtown area. Bruce was very polite and accommodating. Our room was very romantic and the king size bed did not squeak one bit - a plus that I'm sure our neighbors appreciated. The grounds were very peaceful with many different types of plants. Bruce is also quite a cook - breakfast was very tasty! It was one of the best weekend getaways my girlfriend and I have ever had.”
— Ross Mackawgy
“I loved the fact that it has parking, which almost every other B&B don't and there are rooms available with an external door so that you don't have to go through the Inn to get you your room. Makes it more courteous if you plan to enjoy the St. Augustine night life and don't want to disturb the other guests coming in late. Owners are amazingly nice. I have zero complaints. Have stayed there every trip to St. Augustine since we discovered it over a decade ago.”

“My husband and I just finished our weekend stay at the Castle Garden B&B. I have stayed in B&Bs in London and Paris, but this one has them all blown away. The history of the building is what first caught our attention, the location and price is what made us book it, but it is the experience that has us already planning our next vacation! We stayed in the nautical room with the clawfoot tub and it was everything we could have hoped it would be. The quaint charm, the warm hospitality, the relaxing atmosphere after a long hard day of walking. It was spectacular! Bruce was so gracious and an excellent host, we instantly felt like good friends with him. I would have given everything 5 stars, but we missed breakfast our first morning there due to a very slow family taking their time at the table and we were on a strict time schedule to fit everything in that day. However, Bruce spent some time talking with us that evening and apologized for everything. It was definitely not his fault that the family was oblivious, so we never felt angry or mad about it. Breakfast the next morning more than made up for it as we enjoyed the company of another couple and Bruce, and his french toast is sooo good! Just like mom used to make :-) I fully recommend the Castle Garden B&B, especially for first timers to St. Augustine like we were. The fact that we parked our car for the whole weekend and walked to every single thing we wanted to see was a dream come true. You just can't beat it! And at the end of the day, it's located on a very quiet street and you can relax and get some well deserved rest. I 100% recommend this B&B and we will be back in just a few months! We loved it!!”
— Amber Norris
“Great room, beautifully furnished. The owner/manager Bruce is a really great host. I fully recommend staying here to anyone. He is a real pro and is very attentive and friendly. A true credit to the city and the profession.
Pretty good cook as well, he did everything for us while we were there. A friend has been made there for sure. Nice one Bruce, see you for the inurguation party.”
— Gavin Thomas
“I love Castle Garden Inn! The rooms are beautiful and clean, and the building is so unique. Bruce is an excellent host and a great cook! Felt very at home, 2 years in a row. The best way to visit St. Augustine.”
— Allyson Erwin
“We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here. The room was beautiful. the tub was gigantic and our host was beyond gracious. Our only complaint was the lack ofsoundproofing in the building and the incredibly squeaky bed ;-)”
— Kimberly Raws
“My husband and I just spent the weekend at the Castle Garden B&B to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary, and it was truly a wonderful weekend away. Bruce made us feel so welcome! Our room, the Royal Majestic Carriage Room, had its own entrance, so we enjoyed coming and going as we please. The location of this B&B is perfect! You can park your car and walk for your entire stay! We walked to the Fort and throughout the entire city. Bruce recommended a great Italian restaurant which we enjoyed immensely. Bruce cooked delicious and varied breakfasts both mornings which we enjoyed immensely. We will definitely stay here again!”
— B Howard

“My husband and I recently stayed at the Castle Garden. It has very old world charm. Bruce immediately had us feel at home - an entertained us with stories of St. Augustine and his "Castle Garden".
Bruce was an excellent host and a great cook and now we consider him a good friend.
He makes "wicked" pancakes - so good they are to die for!!!”

“Awesome Location, very quite!”
— Terri Propst
“The Castle Garden Bed & Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. We received the accommodations as a wedding gift for our honeymoon. The building and grounds are breathtaking. The moment you walk into the door of innkeeper Bruce's home you feel like you have stepped back in time.
We stayed in the "King and Queen Garden Room" which also included a 4'x6' whirlpool tub. The furniture was gorgeous. The view of the garden from the room was spectacular. The tub, with the complimentary bath salts, was beyond romantic. The only thing "modern" about the room was the mattress. It was so comfortable we ended up sleeping through breakfast two out of the three nights we were there. Breakfast with chef Bruce and Liz was delicious. Definitely fit for a king!
The location is one of the biggest benefits of staying at the Castle Garden. You are right next to everything you want to see and do in Old Saint Augustine. You are within walking distance to everything but not on top of everything. You still have the opportunity of sitting on the front porch and enjoying the evening without hundreds of tourists walking past you like I noticed at some other local bed and breakfasts.
This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast. Bruce's welcoming hospitality and the castle's inviting feel will definitely have us back for another visit in the future. Five stars all the way.”
— Christina Sousa
“Have to say I loved the price, and it was very quaint. The food was awesome and Bruce you could tell had a huge heart for running it well for everyone (one look in his bookcase tells ya that). Great experience over all.”
— Rodney Davis

“My husband and I stayed at the Castle Garden Inn for our tenth anniversary. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was fantastic and the innkeeper, Bruce, is very nice and attentive to his guests.”
— Reba Hagans
“My fiancé and I decided to get married in St. Augustine at the lighthouse. We searched for a place to stay online. We were fortunate to come across the Castle Garden Inn. We loved everything about the place, our room, the breakfast, the history and of course Bruce was just wonderful. (We didn't get to meet Brian this time). The ambiance was just perfect for our honeymoon. We will definitely be back!”
— Kim Robinson
“Do you remember the movie Psycho, well this is pretty much it in real life. Bruce is nice, and his mother on the, other hand is controlling and dampens the atmosphere. My wife and I were told to go watch TV in our room because she did not want us to change the lobby TV. We were also served sour milk for breakfast the next morning. Be ware and be very afraid. We will not stay there again. Plus, bruce uped the price of the room by $20 a night when we got there. Guess he's not busy enough?”
— russell blalock
“When we first pulled up to the B&B we already didnt get a very good impression of the place. It just seemed old, and I dont mean in the good historic kind of way. The parking was in the back and is was just overloaded with stuff. You really can only fit 2-3 cars back there and there is no parking on the street in front.
When we entered the B&B it didnt get much better as far as appearance. Bruce was there to meet us right away and he was very nice. I think he could do so much more with the decor and appearance of the place. There was a lot of clutter and nothing really went well together. To be quite honest we were a little creeped out when we first arrived because of our surroundings and the fact that we were the only ones there at the time. We did have some other guests join us later in the day though, which helped make it less "creepy."
We stayed in the Pirate Room upstairs. The bed was very comfortable, but again the room itself was just lacking. There was a very old 13' screen on what I think was supposed to a desk or vanity so you really couldnt use it. And for some odd reason, next to our king bed there was a small twin bed right next to it (which is not pictured on the website.) My husband could barely fit through to get into the bed.
As I previously stated, Bruce himself was nice and he did make a delicious breakfast in the morning so it helped make the stay a little more enjoyable. And the location is wonderful. We were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to go. I think that is why it also so disappointing that he doesnt do more with the place. It has SO much potential to be an amazing B&B.”
— C. Bush
“I had to cancel our reservation and I cancelled a month in advance and was charged $25 for cancelling not a good impression”
— D Annonymous
“Was charged 179.00 for The Pirate Room, that has a bathroom down the hall, and a twin bed not pictured in photos. We were told it was a higher rate because of the pirate festival. The worst breakfast I have ever encountered at a B&B! Bruce is Making our breakfast and telling stories of past wives or would be wives.. You sit at a table with no water or coffee. Bruce comes thru the door that is cluttered, with a old Mr. Coffee pot and asks who wants coffee, pass down your "tea cup ". He makes a joke that a engineer should design a pot that doesn't drip, as there is a puddle on the floor from pouring. You can see the spot on the floor'! As we look at the table for something to nibble on, Bruce brings a bowl of Granola to the table. We look at each other like, no, thanks.,within seconds little flies were flying around the table. Swat! A stick of butter came next, shortly after A Plate of French Toast was placed on the table. 2 for the men and 1'for the woman. Syrup was in a gravy boat. A bowl of microwave Saugage Links were placed after. My ration of a slice of bread on my plate made me grateful for him trying '! The next morning was almost the same, but, it was Pancakes ( not like the picture on his website) . Same bowl of Granola that would break a tooth, same bowl of Saugage Links from the day before. 2 for the men 1 for the woman. A story of Women should be Submissive to their husbands and a call to his twin brother Brian , who he pretends to be when you call sometimes. He thinks you're a bill collector! It was bizarre breakfast! I have stayed at B&B in St. Augustine he could take lessons from ! The Gardens were lovely and walking distance to everything. Not on the Tour for horse and carriage. Would stay again if no other choice. making reservations for breakfast somewhere else'!!!”
— Lori Scott
“This was the perfect experience as a first time bed and breakfast guest. I was unsure what to expect.
It was very relaxing just to sit on the porch and chat or have an impromptu meal in the gardens. Breakfast was very delightful, it was nice to get to chat with the other guests and hear their experiences as well.
I hope you get a chance to stop in and have a visit with Bruce, he is a fabulous Inn keeper!”
— Cassandra Arroyo
“I should have known from the beginning these people were total jerks. I booked a room directly from the website for the B & B. But it turns out they use a third party for their bookings. Once I made my reservation my credit card was immediately charged. But then I received a generic email stating the reservation request was received but not confirmed. The reservation would be doubled checked, and someone would contact me to confirm my reservation. After several days of not being contacted I emailed the address on their website to see if my reservation was confirmed. The email was rejected. I double and tripled checked the email address and attempted many times from different computers, but every time my email was undeliverable. Next I placed a call to the B &B and got voicemail. I explained that I was attempting to confirm my reservation. No one returned my call. I placed a second phone call to be greeted by a grouchy man who said he wasn't home and couldn't confirm my reservation and told me to call again later. When I was finally able to reach someone, I was told this was the busy season and the price went up.
My reservation was for Labor Day weekend Sept. 2-4, 2016. A tropical storm was brewing in the area, so I called the B&B six days out. The owner told me his place was a fortress and he was going to charge us if we cancelled. He was very rude and condescending. There was no definitive path for the storm yet, so we still planned on going. Later, Hurricane Hermine developed and the path was clearer. The governor declared a state of emergency for 52 two counties in Florida. So, I called the B&B again and asked if I could reschedule my stay or cancel my reservation without being penalized because of the hurricane. The owner was totally unsympathetic. He just kept saying he was not closing therefore he didn't care if I had to drive through a hurricane to get there. He said he was already giving me a break by not charging me for the entire stay since I was cancelling one day prior to our arrival. However, the website says only that if the reservation was cancelled later than seven days prior the deposit plus a $25 fee would be assessed. He charged me $164 to cancel (with the hurricane looming). When I said I would be posting about my experience, he said he didn't care what I did. Don't stay here. Look CLOSELY at all the past comments. He does a bait and switch with the advertised prices, has poor communication and is extremely rude. I copied the following directly from their website, nowhere does it state he had the right to charge more than my deposit.
Cancellation Policies
Seven days prior to arrival: $25.00 handling charge.
Less than seven days prior to arrival: Entire deposit forfeited unless room is resold, then $25.00 handling fee.”

“This was our first time ever staying in a B & B, we were a little apprehensive at first, of the unknown of how this works. After getting there and meeting the innkeeper Bruce, I can say that he made us feel very welcomed, just as if I was part of the family.
The pancakes were great, hospitality was excellent. The room was comfortable, clean and cozy.
It was a wonderful experience.”
— KIMBERLY WILSON
“Loved our stay at this unique B&B. Breakfast was made to order! Our host was charming and quite knowledgeable. The location was perfect! We had parking on site and we're able to walk to all of the sights! Will definitely return!”

“This was a good experience. The room was clean and comfortable and very quiet. I am 72 and my wife is 62 and we found the walk from Castle Garden B&B to the main tourist area easy. Just be careful crossing streets as the traffic was intense. Breakfast was delicious and filling and the host and his mother friendly, helpful, and kind. The price is right.”
