Reviews

“We've been to a dozen B&Bs, but your is the best in every way. Food, Location, decor, ambiance. We will defiantly recommend the Captain Stannard to friends and family...and we will be back too! Thank you so much Christine & Tom”

“The Innkeepers, Mary, Jim and "right hand gal" Helen, provide a B&B experience that is unparalleled. The Inn is meticulous and the breakfast delicious. Aside from touring the Connecticut River Valley, we spent long, lazy hours on the south porch. Mary's attention to detail leaves nothing lacking. And if there is something you need/want that you don't see provided, Mary will happily and promptly see that you get it. We were more than "just comfortable" there. This is the 8th reunion in various venues of our group of 19 and everyone agreed overwhelmingly that it was the best and we would return next May.”

“We visited the Captain Stannard House on Friday & Saturday (4/10 & 4/11) using our "free night" coupon. Friends joined us. Mary and Jim were the most wonderful host/hostess who were attentive but never felt intrusive. Our rooms were delightful. Very quiet, nicely appointed and the linens were top notch. We arrived around 7:30 p.m. and there was a note with information on our rooms and keyless entry. We never saw Jim or Mary Friday night (which was fine). Breakfast both days was homemade and outstanding. Jim prepares the meal, Mary (and Kelly and one of Mary's grandsons) assisted her. Such a wonderful way to start your day. The porch is just as it's pictured. Warm and inviting. We arrived back at the Inn Saturday p.m. around 8 and played games at the game table till after 10:00 p.m. Then headed upstairs to bed to find 2 delicious oatmeal cookies (Jim's vanishing cookies) awaiting us on the bureau. The first night we had delectable brownie bites. What a nice touch. I would say...stay here...a million times over. Gracious, kind hosts, central location, very accommodating and the accommodations themselves were terrific. We'll be back :)”
