“Comfortable, but not roomy. The inside of the structure is well maintained. The outside of the structure needs some repairs. Very hospital host!!!”

“Carl is a wonderful host will all the details attended. His scrumptious breakfasts are renowned around Stoughton. His recommendations for walking, browsing and meals in town were perfectly spot on. The 2+ days were relaxing with our own pace and adventure. We found not only a great B&B but also a new friend in Carl.”
— Del McAdams
“An excellent Bed and Breakfast with beautiful rooms full of amenities, a most wonderful breakfast, a host who took great care of us, and the perfect location to enjoy the best of a charming downtown. A great value for what was provided, our room (the suite) was very spacious with a wonderful 2-person hot tub at a rate that was incredibly affordable. Add in the delicious breakfast and the tips on local places to visit during our stay during the December "Victorian Holiday" weekend festival in downtown Stoughton, and it was a stay to remember. We highly recommend this jewel of a B&B to anyone wanting a luxurious-feeling vacation in a quaint town with much to offer at a great value.”

“Naeset-Roe is on the National Register of Historic Places and has a warm, charming atmosphere. The food is wonderful as the owner, Carl Povlic is a masterful chef who has experience at Mader's in Milwaukee and other restaurants on his resume. The scones are to die for. Each room is named after a member of the families the inn is named for, which Carl will relate upon request. There's also a couple of albums of information about the inn in the charming living room. Carl is an excellent host and offers his guests personalized service at each stay.”

“Rave Reviews
by Sandra
Nasset-Roe Inn
A merry band of friends and I selected the Naeset-Roe Inn for our annual get-together, and we found it utterly delightful. Carl and Zac made us all feel welcome, providing delicious food and beverages, as well as a lovely ambiance. We visited in various rooms, telling stories and sharing laughter. At one point, I remarked, "Gee---Carl anticipates our every need. We must be gods!" I encourage all readers to stay at the Naeset-Roe Inn. Treat yourself to the charm of southern Wisconsin hospitality!”

“We had selected Naesett-Roe almost at random, via internet search for inexpensive B&Bs close to Madison. Our 2-night stay exceeded our expectations. Carl's genuine hospitality, his superb skill as a chef (terrific Eggs Benedict!), and Zack's thoughtful consideration of guests (we've never been "herded" more carefully by a Sheltie) all made for a delightful B&B experience. A random choice is now our first choice in Stoughton.”

“We have never stayed at a B&B before, so we were a bit nervous. We did not want to feel like we were invading someone’s private home. But after only a few minutes, we really warmed up to this place. Carl is simply fantastic!! He knows the area well and is a joy to be with. Oh, and did I mention how FABULOUS his breakfasts are? We stayed here 4 nights and every breakfast gets a rating of “10”. The home is only one block away from downtown Stoughton, which is utterly charming! And, there was no traffic noise. Sitting on the porch every morning drinking coffee was the highlight of the stay. It is so quiet and quaint. Zack, the pet Sheltie, is friendly and adorable. We really miss this place and highly recommend it!!!!”

“My sisters and I went to Naeset-Roe for a week vacation in August. We had the most wonderful and relaxing time with Carl and Zack. Carl let us take over the dining room to set up our quilting projects when there were no other guests. Carl had great quilting tips and suggestions which was an added bonus that we had not expected. Naeset-Roe is a wonderful house and the porch was great for reading or just chatting with my sisters, Carl and the neighbors who stopped by. I have never stayed anywhere (but at family’s homes) where I have felt so welcomed and comfortable. Breakfast each day was fabulous and must be experienced to be believed. Stoughton is a great little town with lots to see, we didn’t even begin to do all that could be done – reason for another trip. If you happen to be a quilter there are many great quilt stores within easy driving distance but my favorite was right in Stoughton, Saving Thyme.”

“The room was perfect! It was romantic, comfortable and welcoming. The picture on the website didn't do it justice. Carl was warm, courteous and engaged in conversation with us very easily. Love the Guiness cake!”

“Really enjoyed our stay here - close to Madison and on the way from Chicago. Carl makes a delicious (not the lightest!) breakfast.”

“My wife and I had such a wonderful time in Stoughton, WI, staying at Naeset-Roe Inn. I am of Roman descent so I know romantic when I see it. This is it. Mr. Povlick is Innkeeper extraordinaire. 40 years as chef and in hospitality service make this Inn a wonderful experience. Rooms were clean, comfortable and so nicely appointed. We enjoyed a breakfast here like none I have ever had. Everything was delicious...eggs benedict,mmmmm...yum! Thank you again for making our stay with you memorable.

“Naeset-Roe is lovely. My husband and I enjoyed the atmosphere of the inn and our room especially. It was like a return to simpler times relaxing in the clawfoot tub and awaking to delicious fragrances from the kitchen. All the charm of Stoughton, WI, is just blocks away. If you're traveling through Wisconsin on your way to Chicago or the Twin Cities, Naeset-Roe is the perfect place to stop and reconnect with your sweetheart. You will be so pleased you did.”

“I was looking for a place to get away by myself to unwind, think, and relax. Naeset-Roe Inn was the perfect anwer. Carl met me on the front porch and we quickly became friends. He provided me with recommendations for dining, activities, shopping, and a spa across the street, all of which were perfect. I felt so welcome and pampered. Zach, Carl's Sheltie, is also the perfect host. Whether I ate in the dining room or on the front porch, breakfast each morning was above and beyond what I expected, and also what I could eat! The inn is located one block off of Main Street in Stoughton, so I enjoyed walking through the town and visiting the shops. Every person I encountered in Stoughton was incredibly friendly. I was even invited to sit in on a rehearsal of a play! I definitely will be returning to Naeset-Roe, perhaps with my book club or to attend a concert at the Stoughton Opera House. The friendship, ambience, and location make it easy to recommend to my friends.”
— Donna Denning
“We only stayed one night, but it offered everything we wanted and more. The food was outstanding and Carl was a great host. A comfortable bed adorned with a beautiful handmade quilt, whirlpool tub and fireplace were all extra amenities that made our stay a real treat. The music and movie options available to guests is a nice touch too. Thank you Carl & Zack!”

Everything was wonderful.”

“We had a wonderful time. Carl and Zak were great hosts and the town was full of fun things to do. Nice places for dinner and a snack. Carl feeds you such a nice breakfast there is no need for lunch. We will be visiting again!

“I wanted to do something special for my wife on her birthday and we went to the Naeset-Roe. My wife and I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and I enthusiastically rate the Inn and especially Carl (and his wonderful dog Zack) at the top. The surrounding area is beautiful providing a pleasant relaxing atmosphere but the best thing about the Naeset-Roe is Carl and Zack. Carl is a warm gentlemen who immediately makes you feel like a friend and his cooking, well, I'll just say it is THE best I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and visit Carl and Zack at the Naeset-Roe.

“We spent one night at the Naeset-Roe Inn in January, and it was the perfect one-night birthday weekend getaway. We stayed in the Roses Room, which has its own jet tub and a romantic vibe. The house itself is so intriguing, decorated in true Victorian style and charm pouring out. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Carl or Zack (the adorable dog), but we did meet Bess and she was absolutely delightful. She made us feel at home immediately and we felt like the house was ours for the weekend, even though we were not the only guests. The breakfast in the morning was excellent - yogurt and fresh berries, followed by french toast bake and bacon and even dessert to end. There was fresh coffee on the table when we arrived downstairs and we enjoyed the coffee (decaf and tea were also available) and looked at the scrapbook of the home's history. When the other guests came down for breakfast, we enjoyed their company. I couldn't have felt more at-home and I'm so glad we went.”
