“We traveled The Skyline Drive and The Blue Ridge Parkway from North to South in ten days. We stayed two nights in the Hawk's Nest suite recently. Upon arrival, we were welcomed and offered a glass of wine in the main lodge. Wow, what a beautiful place and Dave and Heidi were warm and welcoming. They had lots of ideas for day trips and printed off maps to help too! Our suite was amazing with a comfortable bed, living area and kitchen. It was very secluded from the main house yet close enough that we went over there to sit on the rocking chairs on the porch. We watched a storm move across the valley. Being from the flat part of Ohio, we found this weather fascinating to watch, There are plenty of good restaurants and lots of wineries nearby. The hosts told us about Crabtree Falls so we enjoyed the drive there and then a late lunch/early dinner at one of the micro breweries nearby! The Iris Inn is situated just between the Skyline Drive and The Blue Ridge Parkway and is just minutes away. The views were magnificent , the food wonderful and Dave and Heidi were great! We have wonderful memories of our stay there. Oh, we also had a private hot tub on our back deck!”
