Its rich history includes being a Civil War infirmary and part of the Underground Railroad. Relax by the fire in the living, dining or billiard room. Guest bedrooms feature four-poster canopy beds, fine linens, antiques and some fireplaces. Private fireplace cottages are available with fully equipped kitchens, private patios, washers and dryers. Reviews

“Sweetwater was the first B&B I stayed at and how glad I am! Everything was wonderful - from the beautiful mansion house, nicely appointed and exquisitely comfortable rooms, delectable meals, warm and personable staff, and delightfully friendly dogs and horses. Sweetwater is close to everything in the Brandywine Valley and even close to Philadelphia, but seems like a million miles away. Can't wait to return!”
— Michael Shaw

“My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend here last winter. The staff were wonderful, the setting gorgeous. We just wish we had brought our dog - we didn't know it's pet friendly!”
