Description

Circa 1924. Built as a secluded fishing lodge, this historic inn once hosted the likes of President Herbert Hoover, Zane Grey, Walt Disney, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. It is said that after Lombard's death, Gable spent several weeks here lamenting the loss of his beloved wife. A complete restoration took place in the late 1990s, reviving the inn back to its former glory. The log exterior, surrounded by towering trees and 10 fragrant acres, is a welcoming site. Inside, crackling fires from the inn's rock fireplaces warm the common rooms. Vaulted ceilings and exposed log beams add a cozy, rustic touch to the pristine, airy rooms all decorated in Pacific Northwest style. Many rooms include a whirlpool tub and river rock fireplace, and several offer excellent views of the Rogue River, which runs through the inn's grounds. In addition to the inn rooms, there are riverfront cabins, offering an especially romantic setting. In the evenings, guests are treated to a wine and cheese reception, and in the mornings, a continental breakfast is served. The staff can help plan many activities, including fishing and white-water rafting trips.Publicity and Awards: Travel & Leisure Magazine, New York Magazine, LA Magazine, Sunset, SF Magazine, Affluent Living, Country Living, Western Interiors Magazine, Select Registry, Ashland Magazine, 1000 Places to See Before You Die, Oregon Business Magazine, Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest travel guide.Location: Country, Waterfront and On the bank of Rogue River.

“We ask you: Would you like a wonderful bed? I answered yes and they gave me a good firm bed. We ask you: What would it take to insure you a good nights sleep? I answered the same good firm bed with great pillows and the sound of the river and the wind in the trees. We ask you: Would you like a night cap or warm cookies and milk? I answered both and they gave me both. We ask you: What would you like for breakfast? I listed several things and said and don't tell me when to come to breakfast let me sleep in or have it ready if I decide to get up early. And they said your wish is our command. We ask you: Would you like a beautiful view? Of course I said if you are going to give me a balcony to sit on I better have something to see. And they gave me a balcony overlooking the Rogue River with its beautiful white caps. What a great name for a B&B! It is as if they knew that they would need to ask their guests what would make their stay most enjoyable and then they did it. What more could you ask.”

“When you look at the website and see the beautiful setting you almost have to wonder if this is possible. Well it is. Set along the banks of the Rogue River and back from the road are several rustic but modern cabins. This was the third time we have stayed at this Inn and always in the same cabin. There is a managers reception in the evening, and milk and cookies and smores after 7pm. Breakfast is buffet and certainly has a very wide selection of things from which you can choose..”
