“My first stay ever at a B and B. It was lovely and charming. Staff was wonderful and helpful. I am trying to find an excuse to go back!”

“My new wife and I didn't have time to go on a full honeymoon so we stuck around town and stayed at the Walnut Street Inn for a weekend. We reserved the Finley Room and found it to be perfect. It is the perfect size to be cozy and close with your partner. I loved the fireplace (which actually provided great heat) and the jacuzzi. I would have to say the jacuzzi was our favorite part. It was big enough for two to be very comfortable. I am an average size guy at 5'8 and I could almost lay down completely flat. The bed was very comfortable. The t.v. was fine with a descent selection of channels, but we didn't watch it that much. The only hang up with that is there is no DVD player. There are hook ups for one on the front of the t.v. so you could bring your own if you wanted, which is what I did.
If you are going on your honeymoon or just for a romantic getaway, I would recommend the honeymoon package. When you arrive in your room you will be greeted with candles everywhere, rose petals on the bed, chocolate truffles, and champagne on ice with two champagne glasses for you to keep. We stayed two nights and had breakfast brought to our room both mornings. It was delicious. I asked the owner who cooks and he said they have a Culinary Institute of New York grad so that was impressive.
Wi-fi is also available, which is a must.
Our stay was more than we had hoped for, especially for our honeymoon. We had a great time. I would really recommend this to anyone.”

“We spent two nights in the Jordan Room located in the Cottage Inn. We arrived late our first night but the inkeeper was friendly, welcoming and professional. Our breakfasts were wonderful and the staff was pleasant and efficient. The weather was rainy and chilly so after lunch we decided to stay in our room the rest of the evening until dinner. It was cozy with the gas fireplace and the warm furnishings of the room. We highly recommend this inn.”

“Lovely 1879 home & carriage house, close to MO Univ. Accommodations were great, comfortable room, stayed in the carriage house, Danzero room, filled with antiques and modern conveniences. Breakfast was very tasty and staff friendly.”

“I thoroughly enjoy my stays at Walnut St Inn. As a repeat customer I have stayed in three different rooms. My favorite so far is the Wilder, with its 3rd floor balcony overlooking the back courtyard.
Every morning Gary or Rita prepared my early morning breakfast, deliciously. They always remember to bring me my morning tea while I am waiting. Our morning chats always started my day in a nice, relaxing way.
Several very good resaurants are withing several minutes walking distance. If you don't mind an easy 20 minute walk, downtown is available for shopping and food. For over ten nights I walked to a different place for dinner.

“It's been a tradition for my family and I to visit "The Inn" twice a year (around Christmas and the end of Summer) for the past ten years. The reasoning behind the custom is simple: we can always expect a wonderfully relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff are genuinely warm and accommodating (it's not uncommon for the owner, Gary, to sit down and chat with us over breakfast tea), the food is excellent and plentiful, and the rooms are varied and comfortable--each with its own inimitable style (I think we've stayed in nearly all of them at one time or another). Furthermore, it's conveniently located on historic Walnut Street, too--just a stroll away from downtown Springfield (such as it is), where we customarily have dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant, Nonna's (yes, we're slaves to ritual). Whether as a couple looking for some together-time or as a family, we've invariably had a great experience at The Inn. We trust you will too.”

“My husband and I were looking for a Romatic weekend over Valentines Day and that is what we got at the Walnut Street Inn. The Staff there are fantastic and the food is great. We enjoyed a nice relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of real life. It was great to be able to curl up infront of the fire and watch TV with my sweetheart. I would recommend you try the Inn and you will find yourself going back again and again.”
— LaDonna Fraley
“What a wonderful time we had during our stay at the Walnut Street Inn. The inn is inviting and comfortable from the moment you step inside and the staff is both accommodating and friendly. Our room was just right and the beds were a ten on the “snooze” scale. Could think of no better way to start a morning than one of Rita’s breakfasts.
We are already planning our next visit. And I’m told it will be real soon.
We so appreciated the hospitality and look forward to many more visits. Again many thanks from two more-than-satisfied guests.”

“What a lovely old house! We like so much we're trying to get back there before summer. The Inn has a great location (downtown Springfield). You are within walking distance of so many things. We'll be going back to catch a ballgame with their local team and we'll stay at the Inn for sure! The rooms were roomy and comfortable, common areas were nice, our host Gary was so friendly and breakfast was great! Check out the downtown art walk, the first Friday of every month.”

“From the front porch swing to the charming bedrooms and overstuffed sofa in the parlor, THIS is the place to be! Smack in the middle of availability to walking to restaurants/theater/special events, we first discovered it when our daughter went to college at SMSU. The innkeeper is my facebook friend and is delightful! The breakfast is eye candy AND delicious! For a small charge, our daughter always joined us for breakfast.
With a mini fridge stocked w/ice water/cokes/juices and surrounded by beautiful gardens, this one is NOT to be missed!”

“The Walnut Street Inn was recommended to me by someone who had stayed there last year. My friend and I spent the last night of our 10 day trip to the Grand Canyon here. It was such a great place to finish off our vacation. The Inn is delightful - tastefully done, airy, and the breakfast of french toast and fruit was delicious. We stayed in the converted attic, Benton Room. I loved the touches of antique furniture and collectibles. My friend and I both wished we could move in and live there! Gary was a gracious and personable host. Since we were there on Memorial Day, many of the restaurants in the area were closed. Gary recommended an Asian restaurant called Five Spice and we had an excellent "fusion-style" dinner. If I am ever traveling through Springfield again, I will stay at the Walnut Street Inn. I recommend it most highly to all.”

“We stayed at the Walnut Street Inn in mid-July and had a fantastic time. The room was immaculate and beautiful, and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and better than you could ask for. The breakfasts were delicious, and the chef happily accommodated our vegetarian needs. This bed and breakfast generates a charm you will never find in a hotel, no matter how high-end. You will feel like you are staying in an organic part of the city, and you will feel ridiculously pampered. I seriously doubt you can find a better place to stay in Springfield.”
— L. Bangs
“We DID reserve much of this lovely Inn for our wedding party. Our youngest daughter got married in Feb. with snow falling surrounded by candles in white cowboy boots and a lovely white gown she and her prince tied the knot! It was breath-taking!”
— Scott Sudduth
“My husband's 10-year high school reunion coincided with our one-year anniversary. We decided to stay in town to accommodate both events, but instead of staying at home, we chose to make the weekend special by staying at a Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in the Danzaro room at Walnut Street Inn, and we enjoyed everything about it. From the quick walk to down town Springfield for dinner, the jacuzzi tub in the room (big enough for two), and a chance to just relax and reminisce about the previous year while sitting on the front porch swing, this in-town get away was perfect.
I had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, and I thought we might have to sacrifice some privacy for charm, but I was wrong. Breakfast was prepared specific to our vegan dietary needs and was served at a bedside table in our room at our request. Though our room was close to three or four other suites, we were situated in the old carriage house behind the main house and felt like we were in a remote little cottage. We had access to the main house and could have mingled with others had we chosen to do so. But for a newlywed couple seeking a little romance after one year, this was an ideal option allowing for privacy and providing plenty of charm.”

“We were in Springfield, MO for our daughter's Senior Recital at Missouri State University. The inn is 1 block off campus, so the location was perfect. But, even better than the location, is the sense of "getaway" you get when you walk in. You truly feel like you leave the rest of the world outside. And, the owner and staff were extremely friendly, and the breakfast was outstanding! We will definitely be back.”
— Chuck Harvey
“Our stay here was awesome! From the moment we stepped into the quaint and charming house, we knew this was going to be a great stay. Our room was well furnished, sheets and covers were warm and cozy, fireplace was great! Everything work very well and was twice as good as any hotel or motel. We will make this place our home several times a year and cant wait to book again. Don't plan to stay anywhere else.”
— David Dickey
“Whenever I travel I always look to stay in a B & B. Be forewarned: the problem with Walnut Street Inn is that it has spoiled me for any other B & B. This is the standard of measurement for any place that I stay. It is clean, cozy, totally comfortable, with all ones' potential needs anticipated. Gary and the staff treat you like royalty, serving delectable breakfasts on delicate china in a beautiful dining room, or you can have your breakfast delivered piping hot to your room. Each room has its own particular charm. The yard and gardens, porch swing, and sitting rooms all invite you to linger and relax. Highly recommended.”
