Description

Circa 1884. Situated on more than three secluded acres in the historic district, this award-winning three-story Queen Anne Victorian is in the National Register as one of the last remaining country estates of its kind in the region. The estate, known as Random, offers extensive grounds with colorful gardens, wooded walking paths, a pond and fountains. There is a library and drawing room and the winter parlor features arched windows and a large fieldstone fireplace. A favorite guest bedroom is The Turret with a clawfoot tub, tiled fireplace and an octagonal sitting area boasting views of the city. Depending on the season, breakfast is served in the solarium, wraparound porch or in the dining room with linen, china, silver, flowers and candlelight. Specialties may include a fruit plate, freshly baked scones, a frittata or quiche with sausage.
